why? My investment in Kansas State University

It really began with Dev Nelson, award winning radio broadcaster for Kansas State and the year was 1956. I picked up a basketball game on the radio and I was hooked. Nelson was simply spell binding and in the next 2 years, I followed the Wildcats on their eventual run to the Final Four. I remember driving to Manhattan in the fall of 1957 to watch KU's Gale Sayers beat the Wildcats with a long run. Somewhere in the process of following Kansas State sports I came to the conclusion that I wanted to attend college in Manhattan, Kansas.
It took me six years to graduate from K-State because I ran out of money and went to work for the city of Manhattan for two years. In those 6 years(1958-1964) I saw some very poor football and some of the greatest basketball ever played at any college anywhere.
Upon graduation my wife, Carolyn, and I found lifetime employment in Pratt, Kansas. For 38 years we taught and raised our family in what I consider the finest small town in Kansas. In those years we drove to Manhattan many, many times to attend football and basketball games. In 1982, my cousin, Darren Gale, was a starting safety for the Kansas State football team and we purchased season tickets. Bill Synder-beating Nebraska, bowl games, the Big 12 Championship. Today we still hold 5 season football tickets.
My son and I saw Mitch Richmond's last game in Ahearn Fieldhouse. My wife and I had a great time with our season tickets to Kansas State Women's Basketball: Oldhe, Wecker, Mahoney, Lehning, winning the Big 12, winning the NIT in Manhattan(12,00 there).
Time and money - We have donated to the Ahearn fund for 30 years and I spend at least an hour a day on GoPowerCat.com, following my Wildcats. "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat". My greatest memories are beating Nebraska with snow falling and players making snow angels after the game and stunning #1 Kansas 84-68 at Bramledge on Valentines Day in 2011. I must say the investment was "absolutely worth it".
