Why? more on golf

2015
things to remember for golf this year(from different sources, golf channel etc)  THESE ARE THINGS TO WORK ON IN PRACTICE AND SOME WILL BECOME SWING KEYS(2 OR 3 KEYING THOUGHTS JUST BEFORE SWINGING)

1 weight of inside of left foot(left knee cocked in toward the ball)
2 light grip pressure, back slowly actually a 1-2-3 COUNT BACK  NOT 123
3 curing loss of length- use a"long, slow, smooth backswing" and "start your downswing gently, quietly and effortlessly" " strive for a light, free and gradual acceleration of movement though impact "
4 *square to square(toe of club somewhat hooded at waist high position)taking the club back and up with no wrist turn *(this one is very important)
5 http://www.pga.com/golf-instruction/instruction-feature/off-tee/hitting-ball-farther-video  turn shoulder away first , then hips and start downswing by twisting hips first and then shoulders = power
6 hit down and take a divot in front of the ball
7 shoot my age(smashingly)
8 top of backswing thought “don’t hit the ball, swing all the way through the ball and finish you swing”
9 Jack Nicklaus neutral grip( as hand hang at sides) allows for natural full release of golf club  Been using neutral grip and it frees the hands

jimmy Ballard to Rocco Mediate -widen stance
stance - shoulders inside feet(stand up tall because the closer your feet are, the more you must bend at the waist and the this is tougher on your back)
turn the right toe in - backswing weight to inside of right foot, down swing, weight to left toe  *(note  drive right foot straight down into the ground(CRUSH) on back swing for weight transfer)*this one is very important *PLUS KEEP LEFT HEEL ON GROUND WHILE CRUSHING RIGHT FOOT ON GROUND
finish with virtually all weight on your left foot(Ballard says swing is “right foot to left toe”

John Cook  back swing -turn your shoulders(center of your chest back as far as your can(back is toward the target.  turn back on the downswing-the arms and hands just go along for the ride.  Important-for more distance turn your back more(do not try to take your arms up more just turn your back more

**new
1 woods-focus on front of ball, irons-important-focus on spot 1 inch in front of ball, hit down to that spot, object to hit ball and then take a divot
2 use line on ball for tee shots and putting
3 irons - keep hands in on swing line and finish high

Jay Hass on chipping
cock wrists on a longer backswing(let top of grip come back to straight on impact,  don’t flip it through, stay straight at impact) and drop the club on the ball with no effort

Michael Allen on switching to short putter
putting tip  pick a spot on line an inch in front of the ball, focus on that spot as you hit the ball, do not look at the ball

2016
Mark O’Meara
Importance of the club head and body turning “exactly together”  synchronized with balance

me,  lower hands, flatten swing, inside out, swing hard, square to square, finish high

Mark O’Meara
****VERY VERY MPORTANT
hold driver upside down at the hosel, left hand only and swing for “swish” sound,  this gives the feel of hand speed, wrist movement and will increase ball hitting distance also feel swinging with “left side” swish, swish swish, swish

2016
Chipping

Tom Kite  Learned this from Tom Watson  “shorter back swing and accelerate through the swing”  Most amateurs take to long of a back swing on chipping.  Tom Watson had a short back swing and then a CRISP shot"

A NOTE ON SWING KEYS(2 OR 3 THOUGHT BEFORE SWINGING)  THE GREAT BOBBY JONES SAID "SWING KEYS DO NOT LAST".  KEEP A LIST OF YOU BEST ONES AND OCCASIONALLY CHANGE BACK OR ADD A NEW ONE

fall 2016
searching for game and discovered  “focus on spot in center of chest and swing around it.  Keep that spot perfectly still.” brought my game back, had been doing a lot of topping or thin shots.
