Why? are so many people unhappy

Oh, the whiners, criers, complainers really social media is awash with these people and many have a reasonable reason for their moods but a simple truth for many is “some people aren’t happy unless they are unhappy”  heaton

Why? Tax Cuts and Democracy

The Kansas Governor, Sam Brownback, entered office a few years ago with a Plan. Brownback represents the Far Right. The Far Right is a distinct minority, representing wealth.  The Plan akin to the Old Reagan Trickle Down Economics was to have a major tax cut for businesses and the wealthy.  This economic move was said to help create jobs. But there would appear to be a second and to the Far Right more important goal. You should know that the Far Right is against social programs, public schools, medicare, social security, etc.  Why?  Because they end up paying for it. Now not totally, but our progressive tax system is based upon the idea that as your income increases, you should pay more in taxes. Thus the rich, humanely are obligated to help the poor and less fortunate.
Consider the population numbers in terms of the lower class, lower middle class, middle and upper middle class, lower upper class and upper, upper class. In a democracy who SHOULD win based on shear numbers. It will not be the upper classes. You must understand the Far Right fears democracy. They attempt to control it by use of wealth to control the minds of the people that heavily outnumber them.
The second goal of Brownback, was to cut taxes so much there would be revenue shortfalls.  Why, well then the state would be forced to cut back on spending, for example on public schools. This is exactly what is happening in the State of Kansas.
AND NOW WE GET TO THE NEW PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP AND NATIONAL TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY(PEOPLE AND CORPORATIONS).
The end result of massive tax cuts for the wealthy will be some job creation AND massive debt that will cause CUTS IN NEEDED GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS including medicare, social security, federal aid to states, etc. Of course the states will have to cut their budgets and the beneficiaries of these CUTS will be the wealthy and the rest of us victims.

Why? The value of the Political Spectrum

Spectrum, "a broad range of conditions or behaviors grouped together and studied under a single title for ease of discussion"(wikipedia). The Political Spectrum is framed by the Far left and Far Right. Actually, it could be said "framed by violence and dogma".  On the extreme Far Left, revolution against the Haves by the Have Nots and on the extreme Far Right, total control by the Haves over the Have Nots. Strangely, in between is a spectrum of freedom.  The ultimate revelation of this freedom spectrum is that as you move to the right, freedom is lost.  "I once had a momentary vision of the future and it was totalitarian."  No freedom, total control by a Tea Party like group. No compromise, only their "truth".  History is full of examples of such dictatorships. They were ended by war and revolution.

Why? Are we all prisoners

We are all prisoners, of this universe, this galaxy, this earth, this nation, this belief, this body. Is there no escape? Will you escape?
Apparently the entire universe is in the mode of escape. Expanding from itself, but will gravity eventually slow the escape and will the universe fall back on itself to a final small point and then another Big Bang and do it all over again and again.
This galaxy is the prisoner of the Milk Way. Caught in a giant spiral with no escape except into a distant Black Hole.
We have already escaped this earth, in orbit, to the moon, mechanically to Mars. Will the ultimate escape occur. Up. Up and Away.
Of course America is not a nation to escape from, but a nation to aspire to. Although, if the wrong person becomes president, some have mentioned escaping to Canada.
There are some beliefs from which there is no escape. The dogma of some religions does not allow escape. However for some there is escape by the sword.
We are how we are, is there an escape from ourselves? Well, "we are what we think". So do not seek to escape yourself, seek control of yourself. Seek the positive to escape the negative.
The final escape is through the door of death. Is it an escape from or to? or no escape at all. Death is the norm of the universe. There is no escaping that, so relax and find enjoyment in life. Escape the negative by being positive.

Why? the lack of Enigma in Trump

Enigma  definition
1.a puzzling or inexplicable occurrence or situation
2.a person of puzzling or contradictory character

Is Trump an enigma? NO not puzzling, not inexplicable, not contradictory.

This Trump thing has created a storm of epic proportion in this political season. The demise of the modern Republican Party is eminent.  A few general and sorry unfootnoted observations. First, Trump is a billionaire bully.  He has threatened many people with lawsuits.  Imagine the cost of a lawsuit with Trump. Most people, small businesses could not afford the legal fees. Thus he wins.  Second he panders to the perhaps 20-25 percent of the people in America who are racist. That number might be a bit low, but thankfully not high enough to win an election. But in the small turnout of primaries he has a base and he wins.  His lack of contradiction appeals to people who lives are full of contradiction.  Are we safe or not, is the economy improving or not, have race relations improved or not, on and on it goes. It appears to some that Trump has the answers. Thus he wins, at least in the primary season
Now don't take this the wrong way because I am not implying that Trump is a Nazi, not at all, but when I saw Trump descending on an escalator from on high to announce his candidacy I was reminded of a Nazi propaganda film. An airplane desending from a clouded sky on a shaft of sunlight, landing and out steps the savior of the nation, Adolph Hitler. God like don't you see. God is not an enigma, not puzzling, not inexplicable, not contradictory, Simply God.
Is a bully, puzzling, inexplicable, contradictory? No they just pick on people, in this case political opponents or really anyone who is in this case, is contradictory to Trump. Can Trump bully his way to the Presidency? Will the nation elect a god? The answer will come in November

Why? more on golf

2015
things to remember for golf this year(from different sources, golf channel etc)  THESE ARE THINGS TO WORK ON IN PRACTICE AND SOME WILL BECOME SWING KEYS(2 OR 3 KEYING THOUGHTS JUST BEFORE SWINGING)

1 weight of inside of left foot(left knee cocked in toward the ball)
2 light grip pressure, back slowly actually a 1-2-3 COUNT BACK  NOT 123
3 curing loss of length- use a"long, slow, smooth backswing" and "start your downswing gently, quietly and effortlessly" " strive for a light, free and gradual acceleration of movement though impact "
4 *square to square(toe of club somewhat hooded at waist high position)taking the club back and up with no wrist turn *(this one is very important)
5 http://www.pga.com/golf-instruction/instruction-feature/off-tee/hitting-ball-farther-video  turn shoulder away first , then hips and start downswing by twisting hips first and then shoulders = power
6 hit down and take a divot in front of the ball
7 shoot my age(smashingly)
8 top of backswing thought “don’t hit the ball, swing all the way through the ball and finish you swing”
9 Jack Nicklaus neutral grip( as hand hang at sides) allows for natural full release of golf club  Been using neutral grip and it frees the hands

jimmy Ballard to Rocco Mediate -widen stance
stance - shoulders inside feet(stand up tall because the closer your feet are, the more you must bend at the waist and the this is tougher on your back)
turn the right toe in - backswing weight to inside of right foot, down swing, weight to left toe  *(note  drive right foot straight down into the ground(CRUSH) on back swing for weight transfer)*this one is very important *PLUS KEEP LEFT HEEL ON GROUND WHILE CRUSHING RIGHT FOOT ON GROUND
finish with virtually all weight on your left foot(Ballard says swing is “right foot to left toe”

John Cook  back swing -turn your shoulders(center of your chest back as far as your can(back is toward the target.  turn back on the downswing-the arms and hands just go along for the ride.  Important-for more distance turn your back more(do not try to take your arms up more just turn your back more

**new
1 woods-focus on front of ball, irons-important-focus on spot 1 inch in front of ball, hit down to that spot, object to hit ball and then take a divot
2 use line on ball for tee shots and putting
3 irons - keep hands in on swing line and finish high

Jay Hass on chipping
cock wrists on a longer backswing(let top of grip come back to straight on impact,  don’t flip it through, stay straight at impact) and drop the club on the ball with no effort

Michael Allen on switching to short putter
putting tip  pick a spot on line an inch in front of the ball, focus on that spot as you hit the ball, do not look at the ball

2016
Mark O’Meara
Importance of the club head and body turning “exactly together”  synchronized with balance

me,  lower hands, flatten swing, inside out, swing hard, square to square, finish high

Mark O’Meara
****VERY VERY MPORTANT
hold driver upside down at the hosel, left hand only and swing for “swish” sound,  this gives the feel of hand speed, wrist movement and will increase ball hitting distance also feel swinging with “left side” swish, swish swish, swish

tom watson’s secret

2016
Chipping

Tom Kite  Learned this from Tom Watson  “shorter back swing and accelerate through the swing”  Most amateurs take to long of a back swing on chipping.  Tom Watson had a short back swing and then a CRISP shot"

A NOTE ON SWING KEYS(2 OR 3 THOUGHT BEFORE SWINGING)  THE GREAT BOBBY JONES SAID "SWING KEYS DO NOT LAST".  KEEP A LIST OF YOU BEST ONES AND OCCASIONALLY CHANGE BACK OR ADD A NEW ONE

fall 2016
searching for game and discovered  “focus on spot in center of chest and swing around it.  Keep that spot perfectly still.” brought my game back, had been doing a lot of topping or thin shots.

November 2017
LATEST  I read this list before the start of each round

golf pre shot thoughts/swing keys
1-straight/firm left wrist
2-drop hands into gravity zone, keep hands inside
3. get left shoulder on swing line/ finish high
4-address ball 1/4 outside of sweet spot
5-back slowly
6-stay down through the shot
7-totally relax
8-enjoy the moments

Why? prescription, drug insurance

Ok. Went to Walmart Pharmacy to pick up my wife's Eliquis(google if you must). Here is the conversation "Name?" Carolyn Heaton. "Date of birth? " 1-23-better not finish this "do you want to run this through insurance?" What, what, I never had to do this before. "Its expensive." How much? "$1278.36" WHAT. We have never had to pay that much. "Does she have insurance?" We have been getting prescriptions here for years and yes she has insurance through AARP. "UnitedHealthCare?" I guess. "Let me go talk to someone" A few anxious minutes later. "Well, their system was down but now it went through." How much now? ( by the way, this was a 3 month supply) "$72" $72 $72 $1278.36 vs $72.
Apparently these insurance companies have a lot of power. They can make a profit on a medicine claimed to cost $1278.36 and the customer only pays $72. If you don't have insurance you are excuse the term, SCREWED

Why? Grandpa’s mental edges

Grandpa’s mental edges

The world is made up of doers, do nothings and naysayers. The rarest are the doers. 'Never was so much owed to so few'(Churchill)". heaton

“Just because you have the ‘right to speak’ does not mean you are right”. heaton

“Democracy allows, actually demands freedom of expression. The ability to hear and consider viewpoints allows the collective mind to excel”. heaton

"The brush of time, the brush of life, the first infinite, the second, brief tinged with sorrow and joy." heaton

"You may beat me, but I am not beaten. I cannot be defeated or beaten by anything or anyone. I will never, ever give in or give up. Even in death I am not defeated". heaton

bonus
"Of course, of course, diets of the body are important, but diets of the mind reign supreme.  But what would that be? Imagine imagination, humor, dark brooding thoughts, the forms of art and war, love and hate, drama, history, on and on. Consume it all because there is thankfully an infinite list and room for it all. An infinite feast, consume it all, consume it all." heaton

Why? Legacy

from Kurt Heaton to grandchildren

internet blurbs and materials given to me by Gary Heaton(descendant of Nathan Columbus Heaton)on my family and your family history

my great, great grandfather was Samuel Heaton, born 1811

HEATON Joseph Heaton and his wife, Mahitable Eastman, lived in St. Lawrence County, New York, around 1810. Children of this union believed to include Samuel Heaton, born 1811; William Heaton, born 1817; Martha Heaton born about 1822; Sarah Heaton born about 1829 and Lurinda Heaton, born about 1830. By 1840 this family had emigrated west to Iowa, but I am trying to track down their exact location

rewrite of introduction to heaton family(printed page from Centennial  Highlight and History of Agra, Kansas(I have this book)
Samuel Heaton and his wife, Rebecca Poet Heaton along with their three sons, Jim(my grand father James Heaton), Frank(Benjamin Frankin Heaton), and Lum(Nathan Columbus Heaton) and Sam’s brother Will and his wife migrated to Kansas in 1872, lured by the Homestead Act.
The HomeStead Act of 1862 allowed each 21 year old to claim, improve for 5 years and then own 160 acres. One square mile of land has 640 acres.( note the map Crystal Platt, they added some acres)
They first stopped in Plum township..........

my great aunt
NEWSPAPER OBITUARY - (date and newspaper unavailable) - Ann Heaton, only girl in a family of six children, daughter of Rebecca and Samuel Heaton,e cows. They arrived at a farm on West Cedar Creek, north of Gietna on September 1, 1873. They homesteaded this place in Crystal Township where they lived for many years. Nine children were born to them, four boys and five girls. h. Her own mother had led her to the alter when she was 14 years of age. She became a member of the Methodist Church and was faithful and true to the end, a period of over 70 years.

The MATTESON-HEATON Cemetery is located 10 miles north and 1 mile west and then South 1 plus miles

Note much of the Heaton land was lost during the dust bowl of the Great Depression(1930s).  My father’s sister, Ellen Heaton married George Gale and their children and grandchildren still own and farm the original homestead of Samuel Heaton)

You might be interested in the fact that Darren Gale(my cousin and yours) was the starting safety for Kansas State in 1982 and we purchased season football tickets for the next 30 years.  Darren Gale played quarterback at Agra High School and led them to a 9-0 season in his senior year. He also held the Fort Hays high school tournament  single game basketball scoring record with 45 points.

I have have copies of the Heaton family Bible entries on births, deaths, marriages

Of interest is Rebecca Poet. She married three Heaton brothers. She married James Heaton in 1840 and he died in 1842. She married Alonzo Heaton in 1844 and he died in 1848. She then married my great, great grandfather, Sammuel Heaton in 1849
