Of course Rome is famous for its decline. Moral decay and in the end an empire so large it was indefensible. As Crag Furguson would say "remind you of anyone?"
Do you consider the presence of U.S. troops all over the world as a kind of empire? As to moral decline, it is probably true, but there is a moral incline on the Far Right that seems to be wishing for a great fall.
More advanced technology doomed civilizations in the New World and it would appear that advanced technology may not be a match for terrorism.
Are we really on the decline?
